When applied in heavy ice areas, structural reinforcement is required, including increasing the angle of the cross arm (raised to 10 ° -15 °), strengthening the diagonal configuration of the tower neck, and other measures. At this time, additional reinforcement components need to be configured when used as tension towers.
This tower type is particularly suitable for transmission line sections with limited corridor width, and its compact horizontal layout can reduce the width of the line corridor compared to vertically arranged tower types. Widely used in 220kV voltage level lines.
